Historically speaking, gaming is really stepping out on to its own in a big way. Mobile gaming went from eye squinting mobile applications to full on rendition versions to consoles and PCs. The motion games keep getting better and better and PC gaming is hitting new strides every day. What are a few things we want to see from the gaming world this year? I can feel the excitement this year, and the anticipation for what I believe will be a huge year in gaming. How about you?
The very first thing that comes to mind when I think of things we need from gaming this year is better release dates. And what I mean is when a game is announced and there so confident to provide a release date and then magically it changes from one date to another then another. Granted some aren’t too bad with the delays, like a day or two, even a week to month is understandable. How about year? Fortunately that doesn’t happen often but it has. What are some of your most memorable delayed games?
How about fully completed games? Nothing ticks me off more than waiting for a game that is delayed beyond the normal expectation and when it does arrive, it’s full of bugs and kinks. Seriously! I knew we give a lot of leeway when it comes to popular games; however isn’t the sole purpose of delaying a game to evaluate and assure a fully functional product?
Games equal big bucks. Should some of that go back to the consumers? The fact is there needs to be more promotional prices and packages available from distributors and developers. As of now and hopefully for some time to come, we have been very fortunate with the pricing on gaming products not increasing too much if none at all. If done, within a reasonably limited, price range of course.
Trailers display the best; why not show some more game play? Is it just me or is it every time a hot game is underway, they never show more than minute of actual game play. We usually have to wait for some YouTube video to come out to fulfill our need for actual game play footage. Ironically what does this suggest are they not proud of the product, we only get a glimpse of the best of the best? Makes you wonder a little huh?
Will the real deal please stand up?
As I mentioned previously, I for one am excited about the vast potential that gaming as in stored for us this year, despite my obvious concerns. I have faith in the masses and I am confident that the gamer/consumer will prevail in the end. I mean how will the gaming industry survive without us? If we struggle then so do they.
So the real question is, are they listening or are they too concerned with the bottom number and capital investment to be too concerned with the likes of us? PS4, XBOX 720, Nintendo Wii U X rumors, none if this matters. What matters is getting it together and taking care of business before the business isn’t there to take care of. Stay frosty gamers, BTG OUT!
